IRONMAN Asia-Pacific Championship Melbourne
Melbourne, Victoria
The IRONMAN Asia-Pacific Championship takes place in Melbourne, the sporting capital of Australia.
Victoria's capital, Melbourne, sits on the Yarra River and spreads out along the shores of Port Phillip Bay. Lauded for its sense of style and elegance, Melbourne boasts glamorous festivals and events, the country's best shopping, a lively passion for food and wine, and a flourishing interest in the arts. Melbourne is a creative, exciting, ever-changing city with extraordinary surprises to be discovered on rooftops and in hidden laneways. Debuting in 2012, IRONMAN Melbourne has since attracted the world's finest competitors. Athletes begin their day in the town of Frankston, south of Melbourne. The one-loop, 2.4-mile swim course leaves from the south side of the Frankston pier and heads north, before turning south to finish on the opposite side of the pier. The 112-mile, two-lap bike course incorporates the Eastlink Tollway, a world-class expressway closed exclusively for the use of competitors on race day. The iconic point-to-point run course also starts in Frankston, and concludes in St. Kilda, a funky beachside neighborhood with views of the Melbourne skyline.
